HIV and AIDS

Agra is among one of the high HIV/AIDS prevalence areas in Uttar Pradesh. JCSS is working among 500 female sex workers (FSWs) in rural area of Agra district. The intervention include awareness generation, integrated counselling and voluntary blood testing (for HIV/AIDS), referral services, promotion of condoms, promotion of self help groups, etc. In its awareness camps JCSS distributes IEC material related to HIV/AIDS, STI and on safe motherhood. The organisation is also running a STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) clinic in Shamsabad block of Agra district.

Eye Camps

Under National Blindness Control Programme JCSS organises eye check-up camps and cataract operation camps since its establishment, especially for old patients, living in slums and remote areas of Agra district. These camps are organised under the supervision of eye specialists. JCSS is also successfully running an eye clinic in its own hospital.

TB Control Programme

The society in its survey found that in some areas people lives under unhygienic conditions and suffers from malnutrition and secondary infection. Lack of BCG vaccination in the area plays a major role in the spread of tuberculosis. With the help and guidance of doctors and specialists, JCSS has started Tuberculosis control programme under RNTCP in Agra district.

RCH Programme

JCSS is providing health facilities in remote villages of Agra district, especially in Shamsabad and Fatehabad development blocks, through its 10 bedded hospital and through mobile health services.

Health facilities in the rural areas are scanty and as a result many lives are lost because people are not able to reach nearest hospital or health service provider in time. JCSS health team seeks to provide preventive health facilities to the people and establish, strengthen linkages with the government health institutions. The health interventions of the organisation make efforts to bring about a decline in infant mortality rate, maternal mortality ratio and total fertility rate. It seeks to increase couple protection rate, betterment of ante and post natal care, bring about increase in institutional safe deliveries and affect increased immunisation coverage of children.

With support from HLFPPT, being a partner in a merry gold health network, JCSS carries out RCH and MCH programmes at Parmar Hospital, Shamsabad, Agra. Routine check-up of pregnant women, neonatal, regular immunisation and sterilisation is regularly done through out the year at the hospital. Regular training programmes for the ASHAs and health education camps are also organised through the hospital.

Ayurveda and Yoga

JCSS organises ayurvedic camps in Agra district. Besides these camps it also organises chharsutra camps for piles, fistula and fissure every year. Other activities carried out by the organisation are awareness camps, world environmental day, drug de-addiction and yoga classes.

Charitable Clinic

JCSS is running a charitable Ayurvedic clinic at Shaheed Nagar, Agra. Using Ayurvedic, Panchkarma and Indian traditional health systems, people are provided treatment to their ailments. JCSS sees the role of traditional healers as complimentary to modern medicine.
