Unwilling Sex Worker Tests HIV+

During a site visit in Agra, an ORW met a sex worker Asha (name changed). She was given information on HIV/AIDS and asked to take HIV test. She resisted saying she was perfectly well.

The counsellor visited her several times and assured that the status of her examination would be kept secret and not shared with any person other than her. She became ready to get examined through CBS.

When the result was negative, a confirmation was taken at ICTC at the district hospital. Initially, she contested the test result, but after prolonged counselling agreed to start ART medicine.

Now she is taking medicine regularly and leading a normal life. She is thankful to JCSS now.
